WCESD #4 names Lincoln Chief
By a unanimous vote of commissioners Monday, the Williamson County Emergency Services District #4 has a new Fire Chief.
Anthony Lincoln, who earlier this month was appointed interim chief, received the full support of the ESD Board.
Commissioner James Baker said the Board did not post the position or conduct a search for applicants. Lincoln fills the vacancy left by Chancy Bizzell, who resigned March 26.
“We were not interested in anyone else,” said Baker. “His (Lincoln’s) experience is so good and he fits in so well that he was the logical, best choice.”
Baker said the Board received positive input from firefighters on Lincoln’s candidacy for the position.
Lincoln was hired at the salary of $90,000. Baker said the Board considered his 35 years of experience in the fire service, which included nine years as fire chief at Georgetown Fire Department.
He has been with WCESD #4 in Liberty Hill for the past six years and was appointed interim chief from the rank of Battalion Chief.
Lincoln said he is “excited to help this growing community continue to grow and plan for the future that is here.
“I did not think I would be back in the business of running a fire department again in my career, but it seems like things have a way of happening for good reasons,” he said.
Lincoln said staff development will continue to be a priority under his administration.
“We will continue to develop the current staff to take them into leadership roles. Our basic operations should be built around our current capabilities and resources,” he said. “We know we will need staffing and a future station to serve the area we currently are charged with serving.”
