Second half mistakes cost Panthers

BROWNWOOD — Two second half fumbles and late penalties cost the Liberty Hill Panthers a one touchdown lead and the win at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood Friday night, with the Lions coming back to win 38-28.

Liberty Hill answered the Lions touchdown in the first quarter with a 3-yard run by Gage Fulps and Slade Cummins kick.

In the second quarter, the Panthers tied the game with a 67-yard run by Jon Shannon (Cummins kick). Liberty Hill scored again on a 1-yard run from Shannon, and took the lead on a 13-yard pass from Garrett Wright to Tyler Glasgow (Cummins kicks).

Brownwood held the Panthers scoreless in the second half while putting up 17 unanswered points. The Panthers started both the third and fourth quarters with fumbles, while getting flagged for several penalties. The Lions final touchdown came off a Panther fumble near the end zone in the fourth quarter.
