Panther lifters advance to State

Liberty Hill will send two Panthers to the state powerlifting meet after posting a best showing of fourth place at the regional meet Saturday.

Dakota Corbut won the 220-pound weight class with a total weight of 1,580 pounds.

Van Shamblin took second place in the 181-pound weight class with a total of 1,415 pounds.

Both Panthers will advance to the state powerlifting meet in Abilene on April 2.

Also placing for Liberty Hill was Bailey Cloughly, who took fifth place in the 242-pound weight class with a total of 1,350 pounds.

Justin Wilson, Payton Melchor, Andy Becker and Kyle Huppee also competed at the regional meet, held at Robinson High School and set personal bests to improve their standings, said head coach Robert Draper.
