LIVE HEALTHY LIBERTY HILL: Prepare for racing season
By BECKY WYLIE
Racing season is under way. Whether you are a novice runner looking for your first 5k or an elite athlete training for another marathon, you will find a race just for you in Central Texas.
With the trend of obstacle races, you can take your pick of not so difficult ones like the Great Urban Race or the Toobabalooza Toob Mud Obstacle Race to extreme races such as the Tough Mudder or the Warrior Dash. There are also some great races ranging from 5ks such as the TrailSetter 5k and Family Fun Run to the Zooma Women’s Half Marathon and 5k.
There are some websites that you can visit if you would like to find more information on upcoming races. Run Tex a specialty running store has a great calendar of events and you can access it at http://site.runtex.com/index.php/category/calendars/events/. Another great site is the events page at Austin Fit Magazine and you can find it www.austinfitmagazine.com.
Lace up your shoes and challenge yourself to find an event. I would love to hear which event you choose, how you trained and of course your results. Good luck and even better training.
At the top of our list is the Liberty Hill Lions Club Thrill of the Hill April 28. The 5k run is co-sponsored by The Independent and you can find more information and register online. More information is forthcoming.
