LHJH Track & Field excel at district meet

While Liberty Hill High School participated in its District Meet, the Liberty Hill Junior High Panthers competed and excelled in theirs.


Both the girls seventh and eighth-grade teams won first place overall in points, blowing out the next closest teams.

The top three seventh grade teams were Liberty Hill (220), Burnet (167.5) and Salado (78). And the top three in the eighth grade were Liberty Hill (220), Salado (106) and Burnet (92.5).

Liberty Hill recorded eight first-place finishes in the seventh-grade events and six on the eighth-grade side.

McKynzie King won the gold in the seventh grade 2400 and 800-meter runs. The team of Kelly, Wells, Stephens and Floyd won the 4×200-meter relay. Avery Straton won gold the 400-meter run, Lily Miller in the 200-meter run and Barrows, Stratton, Kelly and Floyd in the 4×400-meter relay.

Bailey Wells also earned a first-place finish in the high jump at 4-8.

For eighth grade, Danielle Riman won the 2400-meter run and 1600-meter run. Jordan Marsh earned gold in the 800-meter run. Alee Nix won the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. And Kristan Cox won first-place in the shot put.


On the boys side, the seventh grade team won first-place and eighth grade earned a third-place finish.

There were seven first-place finishes for the seventh graders and two for eighth grade.

Sam Ramirez won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.59 seconds. Garrett Wright won three gold medals in the 110 (18.18) and 300-meter hurdles (47.72) and placed first in the pole vault (10-0).

Kevin Medrano secured two gold medals in the 1600-meter (5:28.1) and 2400-meter runs (8:42.3). And Logan Hester won gold in the 400-meter run, recording a 57.06.
