Gene ‘Butch’ E. Millen

Butch Millen Brenda NatalieGene “Butch” E. Millen passed away early on the morning of October 26, 2015 due to complications following a brief battle with Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer.

Butch was a fun and loving husband and father to Brenda, Natalie and Justin. He had recently celebrated his 60th birthday. Butch always enjoyed sharing his avid appreciation of golf, fishing and hunting with those around him, the luckiest of which ate from the bounty of his incredible grill and pitmaster skills. In his younger days, Butch enjoyed rebuilding his 1937 Plymouth Truck and even ran it at the drag racing track. Butch had a beautiful singing voice and was also an accomplished trumpeter, sharing his love for music by performing in bands, church choirs and quartets, singing at friends’ weddings and making certain we all had the opportunity to hear his favorite performers, “Tower of Power” at least once in our lifetime. He was thrilled to see Natalie embrace music, especially most recently performing with the mighty Liberty Hill Panther Band.

For over 30 years, Butch’s creative talents extended to the beautiful design and building of custom pools and outdoor living spaces.

Butch brought his family to Liberty Hill eight years ago and through the years increased forever those that love Butch and count themselves lucky to have known him.

Butch was born in Modesto, California on October 21, 1955 and is survived by his wife, Brenda Leona Jackson Millen and their daughter Natalie Kate Millen, his son Justin Ryan Millen and granddaughter Julia Rian Millen, Butch’s parents Gene Dale and Bernice Farr Millen, Julia’s mother Mandy and Justin’s mother Robin.

Survivors also include sister Shar and brother-in-law Adrian Herrera, and sister Denise and brother-in-law Dave Rallis, and brother Chris Millen. Also, Butch’s Father-in-law Jacky H. Jackson and wife Dotty, brother-in-law R. Scott Jackson and his wife Missy, and his many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends from California to Houston and everywhere in between.

Butch was preceded in death by his son, Travis Michael Millen, and his maternal grandparents Bernard and Ruth Farr.

A Celebration of Butch’s life will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11 am at The Grove Church where they are members located at 811 Loop 332 in Liberty Hill, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Brenda, Justin and Natalie request donations be sent in memory of Butch Millen to The Grove Church, P.O. Box 1361, Liberty Hill, TX 78642.
