Clyde Sterzing Cowan
Clyde was born on November 10, 1942 in Austin to parents, Raymond and Pauline (Collins) Cowan. He married Alice (Tomerlin) Cowan on December 28, 1998. Clyde was a longtime resident of Liberty Hill, living here for 24 years.
Clyde was in the construction business and he was co-owner of Hobo Depot Café in Liberty Hill for 18 years. Many will have fond memories of the Hobo Depot and Clyde’s presence there.
Clyde’s mom and dad, Raymond and Pauline Cowan, preceded him in death. Also preceding him were his sisters, Sylvia Troutman, Wynona Cowan Howard and Gail Allen; and his brother, Johnny Cowan.
Survivors include Clyde’s loving wife, Alice Cowan of Liberty Hill; daughters, Sheryl Howell of Hallsville, Vicki Bonnett of Jarrell; son, Virgil Cowan of Liberty Hill; step-daughters, Becky Child of Liberty Hill, and Donna Harmon of Bertram; stepson, Chad Walden of Liberty Hill; brothers, Raymond Cowan of Yoakum, and Odis Cowan of Round Rock. Clyde was also the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at the VFW in Leander.
