2 races in LHISD, no opponents for city incumbents
The City of Liberty Hill is cancelling a city council election for May 9 because none of the three incumbents garnered opposition.
Elizabeth Branigan, Troy Whitehead and Liz Rundzieher each filed for re-election to the Council, but no one elese sought a position on the ballot.
The deadline to file was Friday, Feb. 27.
The Board of Trustees for the Liberty Hill ISD, however, fielded multiple candidates in two of three open positions.
Only incumbent David Nix in Place 3 is unopposed.
In Place 4, voters will choose between Greg Thrash and Jim Dillon. Thrash reports his occupation as manager while Dillon identifies himself as a “freedom fighter.”
Incumbent Leslye Pogue, who has served 12 years on the LHISD Board, did not seek re-election.
In Place 5 where incument Alfie Perrin did not seek another term, there are three candidates vying for the open seat — Cathy Oshel, an educational consultant; Anthony Buck, an emergency management coordinator; and Melissa Gauna, a senior materials manager.
Early voting is April 27-May 5.
