Wendell Wayne McLeod, 79, of Liberty Hill, Texas, passed away at his home on February 15, 2019. He was born on March 3, 1939, in Florence, Texas, to Henry Brann McLeod and Carrie Ella Knight McLeod.
Wendell proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for Internal Revenue Service for 33 years and the Liberty Hill Water Supply Corporation for over 40 years, as well as being one of the first members of the Liberty Hill Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed serving his community as a member of the City Council and as song leader and deacon at the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and working at “the place.” He fiercely loved his family and one of his greatest joys was being a husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa.
Wendell was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry and Carrie McLeod and younger brother, Douglas Knight McLeod. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Cox McLeod; sister, Shirley Burress; daughters, Audra Wilkinson and husband Darren; Debra Brown and husband Bobby; Karla McLeod; son, Clifton McLeod and wife Evelyn; son-in-law, Bruce Krueger; grandchildren, Haley Krueger Lowrance and husband Wesley; Brady Krueger; Matthew Wilkinson and wife Katy; Meghan Wilkinson Griffith and husband Luke; Matthew McLeod and wife Jade; Emily Krueger; Bethany McLeod; Sarah McLeod; Connor McLeod; and Jacob McLeod; and great grandchildren, Marshall Lowrance, Braxtyn Krueger-Hayden and Henry Lowrance; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his beloved pup Penny (squirt).
