The University Interscholastic League (UIL) released its football and basketball reclassifications and realignments for the 2012-2014 seasons Thursday, Feb 2.
Liberty Hill High School will now be in Region 1, District 8-3A along with Brownwood, Burnet, Gatesville, Lampasas and Llano.
Liberty Hill HS Athletic Director Jerry Vance said the addition of Brownwood and Gatesville makes for a tougher district.
“When you put Gatesville and Brownwood with Burnet and Lampasas, that makes for one tough district with a whole lot of traveling,” he said. “Brownwood has been a powerhouse in football for years and Gatesville is always a competitive school. It will be an interesting season.”
Salado moved down to Class 2A, joining District 13, Division I. The district includes Academy, Cameron Yoe, Florence, Lago Vista, Marrlin, McGregor and Troy. Taylor stayed in Class 3A, but moved to District 18 along with Caldwell, College Station – basketball only – Madisonville, Navasota and Rockdale.
The cutoff numbers for Class 3A were 450-1,004, an increase from the 430-989 during the 2010 alignment. Alignments for other sports and activities will be released in March and April.
