BREAKING NEWS: Liberty Hill suspect in custody after Union State Bank robbery

A Liberty Hill man was arrested and charged with robbery this morning after police say he robbed Union State Bank on State Highway 29 in Liberty Hill.

Police Chief Randy Williams said Samuel Laws, 48, walked up to the drive-through window about 8:15 a.m. Friday and passed a note demanding money be placed in a bag.

Williams said the suspect, who was not armed, walked away from the bank and was arrested by Liberty Hill Police on Loop 332 as he exited the back of the property.

Chief Williams said just over $2,000 was taken from the bank and recovered by police. Laws was booked into the Williamson County Jail and charged with robbery, a second degree felony.

Williams said today’s robbery was the first bank robbery in Liberty Hill in the police department’s six-year history.
