Mendon ‘Earl’ Gardner

Mendon “Earl” Gardner, 71 of Goldthwaite, formerly of Liberty Hill, Texas; passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday, July 1, 2018, in Temple, Texas.

He was born the son of Charlie Earl Gardner and Lola Mae (Vickers) Gardner on January 20, 1947, in Liberty Hill, Texas. Earl graduated from Liberty Hill High School and later joined the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War in 1966 and served honorably until his discharge in 1970. He then went on to become an auto mechanic, operating his own shop in Liberty Hill, “Earl’s Tire and Automotive” for 30 years. Earl married Irene (Spivey) Gardner in 1983 in Liberty Hill. He enjoyed spending time working in the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjorie Bohanan; son, Brett Gardner; and a daughter-in-law, Natalie Buchhorn.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Gardner of Goldthwaite; sons, Chris Gardner and wife Terra, Eric Buch-
horn and wife Cheri; daughter, Melinda Esposito and husband Stephen; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Williams-Buck Cemetery in Liberty Hill under the direction of The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
