Liberty Hill tennis hosts tournament


The Liberty Hill tennis team hosted varsity and junior varsity tournaments Feb. 20-21, with strong showings for the girls and boys.

For the varsity team Henry Madison finished first in boys’ singles and Ethan Warrington finished second place consolation.

In girls singles Angie Melendy finished in second place and Mackenzie Coleman finished in fifth place. Eliza Homorodi finished second place in the consolation bracket.

In varsity boys’ doubles Ethan Wukasch and Zach Kizer finished in third place. In varsity mixed doubles Tyler Franklin and Sophie Sherman finished in first place. Gunnar Ortega and Kennedy Coleman took second place in mixed doubles.

In girls doubles Lauren Crow and Mckenzie Wukasch finished in first place while Lorelei Fay and Ava Tolley finished in second place.

The junior varsity team had a strong showing as well. Colin Garner finished first in boys’ singles. Dalton Nicholas and Avery Hatfield finished first in mixed doubles while Blaine Richardson and Katy Lively took second place.

In junior varsity girls singles Cassidy Sudekum finished in first place and Madison Sudekum took second place. Emma Neely rounded out the sweep with a third-place finish. Will Gray and Will Snell finished first place in consolation.

Both teams travel to Llano and San Marcos for their next tourney.
