It was a hard-fought game, but the Lady Panthers couldn’t top visiting Salado Friday night, losing 1-0.

Liberty Hill held off the Lady Eagles for much of the game, but had no answer for Salado’s lone goal in the 115th minute of play.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers move to 11-7 on the season and 6-3 in district, behind the undefeated Lady Eagles (8-0), who are ranked as the second best team in 4A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

Liberty Hill slipped down to No. 22 on the rankings. Liberty Hill will look to rebound against the Lampasas Lady Badgers Friday.

In the first round of district play, the Lady Panthers blanked Lampasas 3-0 on Feb. 5.

The Lady Panthers will need wins in their games at Lampasas, at Gateway on Tuesday and against Academy on March 15 to secure a playoff spot out of district 25.

A non-district game against Boerne is scheduled for March 11 in a rematch of last season’s regional quarterfinal, where the Lady Hounds knocked Liberty Hill out of the playoffs.
