Lady Panther softball mauls Ducks, Yellowjackets

The Lady Panthers rebounded from their first district loss to Burnet with two wins at Taylor Tuesday night and against Llano Friday.

Liberty Hill defeated the Lady Ducks again 15-2 in five innings. The Lady Panthers plated three runs in the first inning, two in the second, one run in the third, two more in the fourth and exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning.

Taylor put its runs across in the first and second innings.

MaKinley Browder led the team with 4 singles and 2 RBIs; Sam Barnett recorded 3 singles and an RBI; Joely Williamson had 2 doubles and 2 RBIs; Kandyn Faurie recorded 2 singles, a double and 2 RBIs; Jenna Keischnick had a single and a double; Kinsey Kuhlmann hit a single with an RBI; Jessica Truax hit 2 singles with an RBI; Megan Huppee recorded 2 singles and Katelyn Sullivan recorded an RBI.

Nicole Thiem pitched four innings with 5 strikeouts. Amber Wiggins pitched the final inning for the Lady Panthers.

Hosting the Lady Jackets Friday, Liberty Hill won 6-2. Wiggins got the start at pitcher and recorded nine strikeouts.

The Lady Panthers got two runs on the board in the first inning. A homerun from Huppee with two runners on base to put Liberty Hill up 5-0 in the third inning.

A double from Williamson plated another runner to increase the score to 6-0.

Llano loaded the bases in the sixth inning and scored off a single and a questionable call from the umpire. Wiggins was able to get the final out to end the scoring threat, but that was the end of the Lady Panther offense.

Kuhlmann recoded a triple with a run scored; Williamson hit 2 singles with 2 RBIs; Haylee Park recorded a single; Browder hit 2 singles with a run scored; Faurie recorded 2 singles with a run scored; Huppee hit a home run with 3 RBIs; Keishnick recorded a single and Sullivan added 2 singles for the game.

Liberty Hill improves to 19-7 on the season and 5-1 in district.

The Lady Panthers will host Salado Friday and Lampasas Tuesday. Varsity is slated to start both games at 6:45 p.m.
