John Benjamin Lane
John proudly served his country both in the Navy and Marine Corp. from 1948 through 1956. He was a charter member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion Post 7 in Port Arthur. He was a retired member of the Plumbers and Pipefitter Union 286 out of Austin, Texas, just receiving his 55-year certificate and pin.
John loved to fish and hunt, but his greatest love was his family. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Ward Lane; daughter, Paula Wear and husband James; sons, John (Bud) Lane, Jr. and his wife Bryanette, James Lane and wife Darla, all of Andice, Texas; step-daughter, Stacie Crochet of Round Rock, Texas; step-son, Greg Crochet and wife Julie of Porter, Texas; brother, Rex Lane and wife Nancy of Liberty Hill, Texas; seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 50 CR 215 in Florence. A previous memorial service was held on January 26, 2014 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with Roger Ward officiating.
