Joe Les Ware Jr.


EPSON MFP imageJoe L. Ware, Jr, (Les Ware) passed away on May 6, 2014 at his home in Bertram, Texas. He was born September 20, 1952, in Austin, Texas to Joe and Christine Ware.

Les was known far and wide as “Papa Moose” for his restaurant The Hungry Moose in Bertram. No one ever passed through his doors without receiving his winning smile and friendly greeting — he was larger than life!

Les grew up in Austin and moved to Bertram in the late 1970’s. He served with the Bertram EMS and worked at Merridell Achievement Center in Liberty Hill before opening the Country Florist and Hungry Moose Restaurant with his wife Barbara.

Barbara Gail Morrow Ware preceded him  in death in August 2010.  He is also preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Christine Ware.

He is survived by his son John Ware and his wife Stephanie; three grandsons, JJ, Jessie and Kaleb; and two sisters, Mary Lou Wells of Georgetown and Paula Rutherford of San Antonio.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Hungry Moose Restaurant located at the corner of State Highway 29 and CR 243 in Bertram, Texas. A  reception will be held following the Memorial Service at the same location.
