Grace Daly Runyan
Growing up, Grace was an athlete who especially enjoyed tennis and roller skating. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, majoring in Home Economics. At the end of her freshman year, she returned to Presidio to work for the US Customs Service. In 1950, Titus Charles Runyan came to Presidio to work on the construction of the Camino Real highway and he met Grace at a soda fountain. He proposed to her several months later at a dance in Valentine, Texas on Valentine’s Day. They were married in Marfa, Texas on September 12, 1950.
In 1986, they purchased land located in an area halfway between Liberty Hill and Bertram and they moved a house from Bertram to the land.
Grace was known for her quick wit and her dry sense of expressing it. She worked hard with Titus to build a good home on their land in northwestern Williamson County and we are grateful that she was able to pass on to her place in her Heaven from her home on earth.
Grace was mother to Patricia Anne, Rosanne, Kathleen, Grace Elizabeth and Stephen Titus. She was also a grandmother to fourteen and great-grandmother to six, an accomplishment she cherished. Mother loved trees, and if you would like to do so, the family requests that you plant a tree in her honor in the coming year.
