Celebrate Dr. Seuss

Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday from  1-3 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Liberty Hill Public Library, 335 Loop 332.

It’s far more than just a birthday party for the celebrated, bigger than life author. It’s a festive canine carnival along with cool games, craft-making, a photo booth for silly photo opportunities, a colorful dog costume contest and plenty of Dr. Seuss story readings. The event is free and open to kids of all ages.

Nine area animal rescues and sanctuaries including Wee Rescue, Small Chance Rescue, Texas Humane Heroes, Westie Rescue Austin and the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter will be present.

Among the animals participating are three dogs from the West explosion being sheltered at the Stray Acres Sanctuary and Animal Rescue in Bertram.

The event is part of a national celebration, Reading Across America, held in honor of Dr. Seuss whose birthday was March 2. He would have turned 110.
