The weightlifting camp runs from June 9-July 28 Mondays through Thursdays with three sessions a day at the new fully equipped weight room at Liberty Hill High School. (Camp will not be held July 2-July 7.)
Session 1 runs from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The Junior High session is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Session 2 is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Cost of the camp is $75 for one individual and $100 for a family plan (brothers or sisters who attend LHJH or LHHS). Make checks payable to Liberty Hill ISD.
Checks can be mailed along with registration form to: Liberty Hill High School at 13125 SH 29, Liberty Hill, TX 78642 or dropped off to Coaches Vance, Goldsmith, Lange or Kociuba.
The Summer Weights and Conditioning Program is also for all young men and women who want to improve their strength, speed, overall physical fitness and prevent injuries.
“We think it’s vital we lift weights so we don’t have any atrophy on the muscles,” said Vance. “We think it’s a serious deterrent for injuries during the season. With the number of kids that we have coming out for sports, our number of injuries are dramatically lower than a lot of the schools around us that don’t provide this service.”
Coach Vance said the summer weightlifting program is important for team building.
“If people you are playing with see you working hard and sacrificing your time and putting forth that effort it seems to bring the team together,” he said. “I think it’s important that our kids work together to build that team unity.”
If you have any questions contact Coach Vance at (512) 260-5505 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.

From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Edel will work with kids ages 10-13. Then from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. he will instruct campers ages 14-18.
Camp cost is $150. Checks should be made out to Edel Golf and mailed along with the registration form to Edel Golf – 123 Holmes Road, Ste 5, Liberty Hill, TX 78642.
Campers will receive instruction on all aspects of the game and learn swing fundamentals, short game,
gold course rules and etiquette. There will also be an opportunity to play five holes on Friday, June 29, for a small additional fee. Lunch will be provided on that day. Campers will need to bring golf clubs and drinking water.
Edel’s wife, Barbara, said the Summer Golf Clinic is an opportunity to create interest in the sport in Liberty Hill, especially among kids who don’t play one of the sports offered at school.
“One of the reasons golf isn’t big in Liberty Hill is because there is not a golf course,” she said. “This is an opportunity for kids who are not football or basketball players to become part of a sport that can be very successful for them. It builds a lot of confidence.”
Campers will learn proper behavior when playing on a golf course.
“So the principle of camp is to be able to teach kids how to go and play on a golf course,” Edel said. “They need to know the rules, proper etiquette on the golf course and the dress code. “
Edel said campers will also be instructed on basic facets of the sport as well.
“The golf camp is going to give (campers) exposure on how to work on your long drives, how to approach the green with wedges and how to learn to putt,” she said. “They are going to be (learning) the fundamentals of golf.”
