Boys take 9th, girls 11th at Reicher meet

The Liberty Hill powerlifting teams competed at Reicher on Feb. 10, where the boys placed ninth as a team and the girls placed 11th. In their first official tournament on Jan. 25 in Burnet, the boys placed third as a team and the girls placed eighth.
At Reicher, Elizabeth Montes placed first for the girls in her weight class, squatting 265, benching 160, and deadlifting 315 for a total of 740 pounds. Mikayla Ortiz placed sixth in her weight class, squatting 240, benching 100, and deadlifting 245 for a total of 585 pounds. Taylor Sims placed seventh in her weight class, squatting 225, benching 120, and deadlifting 255 for a total of 600 pounds. Charlotte Wall placed eighth in her weight class, squatting 230, benching 105, and deadlifting 235 for a total of 570 pounds.
For the boys at Reicher, Zachary Aiken took fifth in his weight class, squatting 320, benching 170, and deadlifting 350 for a total of 840 pounds. Cristian Keizer took third in his weight class, squatting 455, benching 270, and deadlifting 380 for a total of 1,105 pounds. Matthew Carter took third in his weight class, as well, squatting 525, benching 315, and deadlifting 530 for a total of 1,370 pounds. Tucker Stephenson took 11th in his weight class, squatting 315, benching 175, and deadlifting 350 for a total of 840 pounds. Justin Montgomery took second in his weight class, squatting 560, benching 340, and deadlifting 500 for a total of 1,400 pounds. Drake Truitt took sixth in his weight class, squatting 470, benching 230, and deadlifting 365 for a total of 1,065. Isiah Mason took seventh in his weight class, squatting 360, benching 275, and deadlifting 410 for a total of 1,045 pounds.
At Burnet, Wall took third in her weight class, Montes took fourth, Ortiz took ninth, and Sims took 13th for the girls. For the boys, Carter took first in his weight class, Landry Bolin took second, Montgomery took second, Lakota Lawrence took second, Keizer took third, Stephenson took eighth, Mason took ninth, Nicholas Miller took ninth, Truitt took 10th, and Aiken took 11th.
Their next meet will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Del Valle High School.
