Norman Van Hill

6c5f6633-4d75-49c5-9f8a-4448af540f7cNorman Van Hill, 72, of Leander, Texas passed away on May 14, 2014 with his family by his side after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Hearne, Texas on May 11, 1942 to Pauline and Van Edward Hill. After high school Norm joined the US Air Force. He spent 20 years of dedicated service and retired as a Master Sergeant. After his time in the military Norm settled in the Georgetown area. He worked as a salesman for many years being employed by Draeger Ford, Covert Buick and finally retiring from Don Hewlett Chevrolet. During retirement he was the happiest spending time with friends, family and especially his grandkids. He enjoyed traveling in the RV, going on cruises and just barbecuing in his backyard enjoying a cold beer. In recent years Norm and Dorothy enjoyed spending time with the Over the Hill Gang in Liberty Hill, Texas. Norm always made everyone feel welcome in his home and helped many people during his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his parents Pauline and Van Edward Hill, his brothers Roy Hill and Ray Hill. Norman is survived by his wife of 29 years Dorothy Hill, son Kevan Hill and wife Diana of Hutto, son Cameron Hill of College Station, son Brett Hill and Melissa Peterson of Austin, daughter Janet Moore and husband Danny of Florence and daughter Jenny Sones and husband Greg of Dripping Springs, Seven grandchildren, Tyler Hill, Abigail Moore, Sagan Hill, Taryn Hill, Watt Sones, Davis Sones and Tate Sones. Also survived by brother Howard Hill and wife Lena of Bryan, sister Kathy Kmiec and husband Ted of Bryan and many nieces and nephews.

The Hill family would like to thank Dr. Kocs and the staff at Texas Oncology, St. David’s Round Rock and Compassus Hospice for providing care, compassion and support to Norm and his family.

Visitation was Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas.

Graveside Services were at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery located at 11463 Highway 195, Killeen, Texas on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 12:00 noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Over the Hill Gang at PO Box 253, Liberty Hill, Texas.
