The Liberty Hill Panthers’ Track and Field team is eagerly anticipating their District Meet April 9-10 at Liberty Hill. The Track team has been preparing for the District meet for the last few weeks with two final pre-season meets and the Texas Relays.

The team will have one final preseason meet at East View High School on Thursday to put in some finishing touches and try to shave a few tenths off their times.

The coaches and athletes should feel like they’re in the best possible position to compete and post good results at the District. Not only are they at an advantage with the meet being on Liberty Hill’s track, but they’ve also been a team that’s finished at the top of the team standings in almost every meet they’ve attended.

On March 27, the Liberty Hill Track and Field teams competed at the Mustang Relays in Marble Falls.

A few of Liberty Hill’s runners were also given a chance to compete against some of the top talent in both the region and state as they competed at the Texas Relays in Austin on March 28-29.

The runners who competed didn’t let that intimidation get to them as all of them finished very well at the Texas Relays, some even finished in the top eight of their events and make it to the finals.

At the Texas Relays, senior Madi Sharp qualified on Friday in the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles HS Div I by finishing 6th overall in the preliminaries with a qualifying time of 15:38. She returned on Saturday and finished seventh overall in the finals of the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15:58.

Senior Will Fromme also competed in the hurdles at the Texas Relays. Fromme finished 8th overall in the preliminaries of the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles HS Div I with a qualifying time of 15:23. Fromme returned on Saturday for the finals and finished sixth overall with the exact same time he posted in the preliminaries, 15.23.

The Boys track team had two relay teams compete at the Texas Relays as well. The 4 x 400 Meter Relay Team finished 15th overall on Friday in the preliminaries with a time of 3:28.02. The team just missed qualifying for the finals by six spots. The team consisted of sophomore Caleb Guerin, and juniors Joey Kipfer, Nick Hernandez, and Christian Anderson.

The Boys 4 x 100 Meter Relay Team finished 30th overall in the preliminaries with a time of 45.22. The team consisted of Guerin, Kipfer, Hernandez, and junior Logan Barnes. Other teams from Liberty Hill’s district that competed in the 4 x 100 Meter Relay were Lampasas, who finished 20th overall, and Brownwood who finished 24th overall.
