Their first anniversary of being in business as Two Brand It just kind of snuck up on Carrie VanMeeteren and Jennifer Ferrell, managing members of the business.
So wrapped up in learning all the business details and still making it fun and meeting all the t-shirt printing needs of their customers has left them breathless but successful and very thankful.
“I’m surprised we’re doing as well,” said Mrs. VanMeeteren who also runs an engineering company. “The idea of opening the t-shirt business had festered in me for years. So, when Jennifer was looking for a change, we became partners and opened the business.”
The two had known each other for years before becoming business partners. They ran in the same circles especially competitive cheering with their children.
No special event is planned to mark their first anniversary, but the business partners invite everyone to stop by and visit.
“Neither one of us knew anything about t-shirt printing,” said Mrs. Ferrell. “We could wear shirts, but that was it. It’s been fun though and challenging and we’ve learned a lot. Both of us are driven and we weren’t about to give up. It took a while, but we finally got over our fear of messing up a shirt and yes we we still get excited about every finished product.”
Since they opened, Mrs. VanMeeteren says the orders have been flying in.
“Orders come through various avenues including text and Facebook making it difficult to manage,” she said. “We really had to get organized to keep track of them all and get them done on time.
“Last year was a prosperous year for us thanks to all our customers, but we want to not only to prosper but make a living in 2014,” she added.
Two Brand It specializes in custom t-shirt printing using a variety of techniques and materials including glitter. The business also monograms caps, blankets, placemats and other items. The company does signs, banners and window signs.
“All we ask is that our customers dream it; we create it and our customers express it,” said Mrs. Ferrell. “That’s our motto: ‘Dream it, Create it, Express it’.”
The partners say they have added a couple of high school students to help with the orders and to learn the facets of running a business. As a team, they are committed to learn enhanced techniques including silk screening and provide the best possible customer service.
Two Brand It is located at 921 Loop 332 in downtown Liberty Hill, which turned out to be easy decision.
“I wanted a storefront and my dad owns the building so it worked out after the previous tenant left,” said Mrs. Ferrell.
The business is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, or by appointment. They can be reached at (512) 800-6346 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
