Lorena Hawkins

Hawkins, Lorena - best photoLorena Hawkins, 96, went to live with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 29, 2013.

She was born Lorena Allie Hobbs in Spicewood, TX on January 15, 1917, to Harvey Dillard and Emma Frances Word Hobbs. She graduated as valedictorian from Liberty Hill High School in 1934.

She was a retired kindergarten and day care teacher and was a long time member of Kinney Avenue Baptist Church in Austin, TX.

She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 59 years, Sidney Buford Hawkins.

She is survived by a sister Lavern Berry, her daughter and son-in-law Nelda and Darwin Wiggers, her grandson Michael Wiggers and wife Kristy, her granddaughter Brenda Lodge and husband Ross, and four great grandchildren Kayla, Kyle, Sierra and R J.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Liberty Hill Cemetery with Pastor Neal Landry officiating.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of New Hope Manor for their compassionate long term care of our mother and grandmother, Lorena Hawkins.  We also want to give a very special thank you to the Activities Staff and volunteers who gave of themselves to provide enjoyable days.

And a special thank you to our church family for their prayers and support.
