Students at Liberty Hill Junior High Food Drive collected more than 1,200 cans and non-perishable food items for Operation Liberty Hill this week.

Sponsored by STRIVE classes, the annual Junior High food drive is a major contributor to the local food pantry.

“There were so many donations on the first day, that one load has already been delivered (to Operation Liberty Hill),” said STRIVE Teacher Alison Havens.

The food drive is conducted as part of a contest between second period classes. Points are awarded based on the types of foods collected, and the winning class earns a trophy made from cans and is recognized during the school Christmas program in December.

Operation Liberty Hill is still in need of food items as the holidays approach. Stop by 15100 SH 29 or call (512) 913-2256. The store is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday, 4-7 pm on Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on first and third Saturdays.
