The Liberty Hill Varsity Volleyball team finished their District 8-3A schedule with key wins over Burnet on Oct. 25 and Llano on Oct. 29.
The Varsity Lady Panthers have been so impressive over the month of October and are looking to carry that confidence and momentum into the post season.
The Lady Panthers have won two consecutive District 8-3A titles and are putting their focus on Bi-district and the playoffs, which start Monday, Nov. 4.
The Lady Panthers concluded their district schedule with a 3-1 win over Llano. They won the first game 25-13, but dropped their second game 29-27. It was only the second set the Lady Panthers have lost in district this season. They came back and won the next two games 25-13 and 25-13 to win the match and finished the District 8-3A schedule an undefeated 9-0.
The Lady Panthers also swept their bitter rivals Burnet on Friday in dominating fashion. So dominating that the Bulldogs never scored more than 12 points in any of the three sets.
Jaycie Pluenneke led the Lady Panthers with 9 kills. Kallie Perrin led the team with 29 assist and 2 blocks in her final home match at LHHS. Payton Walker led with 2 aces and 10 digs.
In the first game against Burnet, the Lady Panthers jumped out to an impressive 13-1 lead after a kill by Pluenneke that was set by Perrin. They went on a 6-4 run to make it 19-5 after a kill by senior Mason Sharp who was also honored on senior night with her sister Madi Sharp.
Madi Sharp picked up a kill that was set by Perrin to make it 20-7, before the Lady Panthers went on a 5-3 run to finish off the first game with a 25-10 win.
In game two against Burnet, Liberty Hill started out fast again with a 9-2 lead. A kill by Jill Green that was assisted by Perrin made it 10-4. Then Madi Sharp got a block against the Bulldogs to make it 11-4.
An ace by Peyton Redmond made it 16-6. The Lady Panthers went on a 4-3 run before a kill by Perrin and kill by Pluenneke made it 22-10.
Liberty Hill finished the second game with a 3-2 run with a kill from Jill Green and an ace from Kelly McKinzey.
In the third and final game, the Lady Panthers started out with a 7-5 lead after a dumpshot from Perrin. The Panthers built upon that lead and went up 9-7 after a kill by Jill Green, set up by Perrin.
A kill by Pluenneke and kill by Redmond put the Lady Panthers up 12-10. They then went on an impressive 13-1 run to finish off the rivalry match. They won the final set 25-11. During that run Jill Green picked up two kills and a block and Pluenneke picked up two aces.
The Lady Panthers will play on Monday, Nov 4, in their first playoff game. They will play Venus at Robison High School in the bi-district match.
