The Liberty Hill Varsity Volleyball team swept Llano 3-0 (25-13, 25-5, 25-22) on Oct. 11 and then swept Lampasas 3-0 (25-7, 25-19, 25-13) on Oct. 15 in two solid district wins. The Panthers are still undefeated in district play, 6-0, and have a 26-9 record overall.

In their match against Lampasas, Peyton Redmond led the Lady Panthers with 8 kills in the win while setter Kallie Perrin added 23 assists.

Libero Payton Walker finished with 10 digs, and Redmond led the team with three blocks. Jill Green led the Lady Panthers in serving with 2 aces.

“I think we played really well and executed some key plays,” said Head Coach Gretchen Peterson. “We came in and ran some up tempo plays. I thought this was the most consistent three games that we’ve put together. I didn’t feel like a huge drop off at any point. That’s something we’ve really been working on and I thought that showed tonight through the win.”

Liberty Hill (26-9, 6-0 District) opened the first set with a 3-0 lead after two aces by Jill Green. The Panthers then built their lead to 13-1 following a 10-1 run.

A kill by Mason Sharp, assisted by Kallie Perrin made it 14-2. Then a block by Jaycie Pluenneke put the Lady Panthers up 16-2.

“Jaycie (Pluenneke) is really coming into her own,” Coach Peterson said. “She is playing with a lot of confidence and she’s getting on and off the net really quick and getting a ton of touches for us. Her game has really elevated and in turn that brings the whole team’s play up. We all kind of wrap around her and she’s that kind of player. They rally around her and behind her.”

A dumpshot by Perrin made the score 18-4 in favor of the Lady Panthers. Liberty Hill then built upon that lead with a 5-0 run following kills by Green and a block by Peyton Redmond to stop the Lady Badger attack.

A kill by Redmond, set up by Perrin allowed Liberty Hill to take a 22-7 lead, before a kill by Madi Sharp made it 24-7.

A hitting error by Lampasas ended the first set with Liberty Hill winning 25-7 in dominating fashion.

In the second set, Liberty Hill found itself down 2-4 early following a missed serve.

A kill by Pluenneke that was set by Perrin allowed the Lady Panthers to tie the game 4-4. They then took a 6-5 lead following a kill by Redmond.

Lampasas rallied back to tie the game at 6-6 and then take a 6-7 following a kill.

A shot by Jill Green gave the Lady Panthers a point and tied the game at 7-7. Green then blocked a Lady Badger’s attack to make the score 10-8.

A kill by Hallie Supak, assisted by Perrin allowed the Panthers to build upon that lead to make the score 15-12.

Liberty Hill then went on a 7-1 run to make the score 20-13. Redmond’s shot gave the Lady Panthers another point and put them up 21-15.

A missed serve allowed Lampasas to cut the deficit to 24-19, but a kill by Supak gave the Lady Panthers a 25-19 second set victory.

In the third and final set, the Lady Panthers started out with a 5-3 lead following a kill by Redmond.

An ace by Kelly McKinzey and back to back kills by Madi Sharp allowed the team to increase its lead to 10-4.

“The play of Madi and Mason (Sharp) has really come around and been consistent lately,” Coach Peterson said. “They’re those type of players that do a lot for us. When they’re both on it’s really fun watch and they both did a great job tonight.”

Liberty Hill then went on an 8-5 run to make it 18-9 following a kill by Mason Sharp. A block by Redmond and then a kill by Redmond increased their lead to 21-12.
