Harley Doyce Rankin, 95, of Wichita Falls, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Don Pellikan, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
A son of the late John and Bonnie (Powell) Rankin, he was born October 9, 1917, in Mangum, Oklahoma. On July 28, 1941, he married Beth Taylor in Houston, Texas. They were married 70 years. They resided in Liberty Hill, Texas, for the last 50 years, where he and Beth owned and operated their businesses. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Liberty Hill, the Over the Hill Gang, Liberty Hill Cemetery Association, the Liberty Roping & Riding Club, and many community and civic affairs. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beth Rankin; and his brother, Jimmy Rankin.
He is survived by his nieces, Linda Burbank of Wichita Falls, Patricia Murphey of Cookietown, Oklahoma, Johnie Lou Oliver of Franklin, and Dorthy Browning of Orange; his nephew, Dean Rankin of Wichita Falls; great-nephew, Ernie Chammas of Keserouan, Lebanon; and a multitude of dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 7- 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
