For Liberty Hill’s newest trio of professional hair stylists, every client presents an opportunity to make a difference.
“Being able to see a client come in and see them get excited about the way they look makes me feel wonderful,” said Kim King, co-owner of Cut-N-Edge Salon. “Having people feel wonderful about themselves when they leave here keeps me enthused about what we’re doing here.”
Sarah Kinne, the salon’s co-owner, agrees that helping customers feel good about their appearance means a lot. In fact, it’s the commitment to their customers that is attracting new visitors to the salon every day.
Located in the Live Oak Plaza on State Highway 29, Cut-N-Edge stylists are up on the latest trends in haircuts and styles. They also boast the latest techniques for hair color and tints, perms, waxing and facial care.
Tonya Collins, a native of Liberty Hill, specializes in facials and waxing. She attended Central Texas Beauty College in Round Rock and is continuing her training in skin care.
She said her interest in skin care began as a child as she was continuously prodded by her mother to protect her skin with sunscreens when spending time outdoors.
Ms. Collins offers spa facials, which include steaming, scrubs, masks, deep cleaning pores and facial massage. The relaxing treatment takes about one hour, she said.
Her continuing education in the area of skin care will enable the salon to also offer chemical peels and microdermabration.
Mrs. Kinne and Mrs. King worked together at Impressions Salon, which closed its location in downtown Liberty Hill some months ago.
“We worked so well together that we decided to go into business together and open our own shop,” Mrs. Kinne said.
Mrs. Kinne, who moved to the area from California a few years ago, has 11 years of experience in cosmetology. She was educated at the Paul Mitchell School in Costa Mesa, California. She specializes in hair color.
“It was a challenge at first, but I’m having fun with it now,” she said. “Not all brown hair color is alike, and we don’t want everyone walking out with the same look.”
Mrs. King is a long familiar face among Liberty Hill’s hair stylists. At one time, her Studio 29 was the only beauty salon in Liberty Hill.
With 20 years experience in cosmetology and an education from Central Texas Beauty College, Mrs. King said she has developed a special interest in perms and is especially good at spirals and piggyback perms.
“This salon reflects a more modern feel,” she said, adding that the team designed the interiors of the salon themselves.
Along with a comfortable waiting area equipped with free wireless Internet connection, the salon’s decor has a flair for modern design that is indicative of the energey of its stylists.
“Every day is a different day, and we see different people. We are about building strong relationships, even friendships, with our clients. And we all work well together as a team,” said Mrs. Kinne.
The stylists at Cut-N-Edge consult with each other regularly on styles and special services for their customers.
“This is a fun place, and we keep up to date with the latest fashion trends,” she said.
Customers of all ages are welcome at Cut-N-Edge. From toddler haircuts to roller sets, the team can create a special look for everyone.
The stylists also offer special event hairstyles and makeup, and will take care of their clients on site for special occasions.
Cut-N-Edge is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are more than welcome.
