Varsity takes 2nd place in Mustang Relays

MARBLE FALLS — Liberty Hill High School’s track and field teams have brought home their share of medals this season and on March 28 those teams earned more accolades in Marble Falls’ Daybreak Rotary Club Mustang Relays.

With a team score of 84, the varsity girls finished second behind Fredericksburg. And with a score of 86, the varsity boys also placed second behind 5A Westlake.

The JV girls finished fourth with 59 points and the JV boys placed eighth, scoring 34.5 points.

Freshman Danielle Rimann continues to post excellent times in distance events and earned two individual gold medals in the 1600-meter run (5:28.14) and the 3200-meter run (12:28). Sophomore teammate Chelsea Cole finished in third place in both those events as well, running times of 5 minutes, 36.19 seconds and 12:35.

Junior Madison Sharp also produced two gold medals, earning one in the 100-meter hurdles (15.71.00) and in the high jump with an attempt of 5-2.

The team of junior Allie Ledesman, sophomore Skylar Larkin, senior Cera Dixon and junior Maria Rodriguez took third place in the 4×400-meter relay, clocking a total time of 4:18.96.

Liberty Hill junior Will Fromme, who competed at the Texas Relays the following day, won a gold medal in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.32 and a silver in the 110-meter hurdles (15.25).

Senior Zack Stiles took home a sliver medal after posting a time of 2:05.38 in the 800-meter run. And junior Mitchell Germann earned silver and bronze medals in the 3200-meter run (10:15) and the 1600-meter run (4:40.25).

Sophomore Logan Barnes also nabbed a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 11.60 and senior Jordan Skinner earned one in the shot put, throwing an attempt of 45-6.

The Panthers had two relay teams, which earned bronze medals among the stiff competition on Thursday.

The 4×100-meter relay team of freshman Caleb Guerin, sophomore Gabe Shoemaker, Barnes and Fromme turned in a time of 44.83. Then the 4×400-meter relay squad of Guerin, sophomore Nick Hernandez, sophomore Christian Anderson and Stiles ran a team time of 3:33.58.

Liberty Hill will have one final tune up before the all-important district meet.

On Thursday, April 4, the track and field teams will travel to Fredericksburg to compete in the AJ Loth Pre-District Meet. Then April 10-11, the District 8-3A Meet will take place in Lampasas.
