Dorothy Ellen Kelley

Dorothy Ellen Kelley, 87, of Florence, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 18, 2012 with her children at her bedside. A visitation was held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Lawler Baptist Church in Florence. A service celebrating her life and faith will be held at 10:00 AM at the Lawler Baptist Church on Thursday, June 21, 2012. Interment will follow at Mt. Mariah Cemetery in Briggs, Texas.

Honoring Dorothy as pallbearers will be Donnie Lee Jackson, Glendon Berry, Steve Marley, Chuck Kelley, Wendel Everett, Donald Ray Denson, Clayton Kelley and Zee Ziminskas. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Berry, Jimmy Ray Kelley, Bill Gates, Ronnie Robinson, Billy Robinson, Randy Everett, and Bill “Jr” Denson.

Dorothy was born January 1, 1925 near Briggs, Texas to the late Charles F Marley Sr. and Era Mertel Harris Marley. She was raised in the Briggs, Mahomet area in Burnet County. On November 29, 1945 she married the love of her life, Lee Kelley in Georgetown, Texas. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening and canning, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Lawler Baptist Church for 64 years and truly loved her church work and church family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost 54 years; one son, Leon Kelley; and his wife, her daughter-in-law, Donna Kelley; her son-in-law Ed Brooks; 3 sisters; Edith Harrell, Marie Robinson, and Ima Kelley; and 1 brother, Charles F Marley, Jr.

Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children; Clarinda “Sissy” Brooks of Salado; Tommy Kelley and wife Becky of Florence; Wayne Kelley and wife Melinda of Florence; 3 sisters, Lurlean Berry of Florence, Margaret Jackson of Salado, and Laverne Gates of Liberty Hill; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; along with numerous other family and friends.
