Georgetown Tournament

March 1-3 

 Thursday, March 1 – Liberty Hill’s varsity team played in a tough bracket against all 4A and 5A schools. But the Lady Panthers fought hard and hit well, coming close in game No. 1 to knocking off McNeil (tournament champions in 2012). However, Liberty Hill lost 7-8, but had 13 hits to McNeil’s 10.

Hitting highlights: Courtney Weems hits her first home run of the season; Paige Holland went 3-3 with a two singles and a double; Kallen Floyd had two hits with a single and double and RBI; Presley Walker had two hits with a single, double and RBI.

Game No. 2 was against Pflugerville Hendrickson who took advantage of Liberty Hill’s back-and-forth highs and lows game with McNeil, keeping the foot on the gas to beat the Panthers 8-0.

Liberty Hill had seven hits, to Hendrickson’s 10. The Lady Panthers left seven runners stranded this time.

“We left 12 runners on base which ended up being our Achilles’ heal the whole tournament,” said Liberty Hill Coach Charice Hankins. “We played back-to-back so we could get the state tournament and support our LH Panther basketball team.”

Hitting highlights: Kallen Floyd went 3-for-3 with three singles.Liberty Hill also got singles from Herman, Holland, Lafferty and Browder.

Saturday, March 3 — Liberty Hill lost to Hays 5-4.

The Lady Panthers outhit Hays 10 to eight, but left eight runners on.

“We hit the ball well,” Hankins said. “Just left too many runs on the table. We also did not make any defensive errors.”

Hitting highlights: two hits by Yandrisovitz, Lafferty and Junkin; singles by Herman, Floyd, Weems and Presley Walker.

 Liberty Hill beats Rouse 4-3 

 Liberty Hill used eight hits great defense to defeat Rouse.

Hitting highlights: Three hits by Kyli Herman – 2 singles, double, RBI; two hits by Kallen Floyd; Paige Lafferty with a RBI; one hit by Courtney Weems with a double and RBI.

“We left nine runners on,” Hankins said. “We were down 3-0 and came back in the bottom of the 6th and scored two and in the bottom of the 7th inning we scored two more runs to claim the victory.”

The Lady Panthers will travel to Del Valle on Friday, March 9, for their final game before Spring Break.
