The Liberty Hill High School varsity baseball team went 1-2 over Spring Break with a win over St. Andrews.
On Thursday, March 15, Liberty Hill played host to Rockdale in a battle that took extra innings to decide the outcome.
Rockdale jumped out to a 2-0 lead after scoring runs in the top of the first and second innings.
Liberty Hill then tied the game 2-2 after a three-hit second inning scored T.J. Hillman and Colby Schmidt.
In the third inning, the teams traded leads as Rockdale jumped ahead 3-2 following a double, single and sacrifice fly. However, Liberty Hill countered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, led by a Hillman homerun over the right field wall on a first-pitch swing.
The long ball gave the Panthers a 4-3 lead heading into the fourth inning.
Things looked good for the Panthers as Matt Parks pitched three more scoreless innings, maintaining the Liberty Hill lead.
But Rockdale stormed back in the seventh inning to tie and overtook the Panthers in the eighth to come away with a 6-4 victory.
The Panthers are now 8-4-1 on the season and will open up District 25-3A play Friday, March 23, when they host Taylor at 8 p.m.
