Candidates seeking a position on the Board of Trustees of the Liberty Hill Independent School District or the Liberty Hill City Council can file the necessary paperwork from Feb. 4 through March 5. Early voting is April 30-May 8. Election Day is May 12.
There are three places up for election on the LHISD Board. Place 3 is currently held by David Nix, Place 4 by Leslye Pogue, and Place 5 by Alphie Perrin.
Members of the school board serve three-year terms. To qualify, candidates must be registered voters who have resided inside the school district boundaries for six months prior to the filing deadline and in Texas for 12 months prior to the deadline.
On the Council, there are three places open, in addition to the position of Mayor. Place 2 is currently held by Jack Harkrider, Place 4 is held by Charles Canady and Place 5 is an open seat that was vacated by Lisa Kirk in December. The Mayor’s position is currently held by Michele “Mike” Murphy.
Members of the City Council and the Mayor serve two-year terms. To be eligible, candidates must be registered voters who have resided within the city limits for six months prior to the filing deadline.
To file for school board, candidates should go to LHISD Administation Building, 14001 W. SH 29. Candidates for Council may pick up applications at City Hall, 1120 Loop 332.
